Fox

This fox carries both playfulness and slyness, oversized yet light on his feet. Though highly engineered with a complex inner structure, he appears to slip effortlessly through the garden, tail lifted as if on a secret mission.

Created in corten steel, his colouring deepens into rich, rusty reds, the perfect echo of a fox’s coat. There’s a touch of mischief in him, but also joy; a happy skulker moving with quiet intent.

While making him was bittersweet — a real fox had just raided Joanna’s chook pen — this piece ultimately captures the spirit of the animal, flitting between presence and elusiveness.
